Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
Introduction
At WMT we recognise the importance of conducting business in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner. As a leading accountancy firm in Hertfordshire with a dedicated team of approximately 90 staff, we understand the impact our operations can have on the environment and society. This Corporate Social Responsibility ‘CSR’ policy outlines our commitment to contributing positively to the community, to our team and to minimising our environmental footprint.
Social Responsibility
Ethical Practices:
We are committed to conducting our business with the highest ethical standards. This includes transparency in financial reporting, adherence to professional accounting standards, maintaining client confidentiality and always acting in an honest and trustworthy manner.
Employee Well-being:
WMT support the health and well-being of our staff. We provide a safe and supportive work environment, promote a healthy work-life balance, and offer resources for mental health and professional development. This includes access to a dedicated wellbeing platform offering advice on financial matters, nutrition, exercise and mental health. We promote healthy eating by providing a range of healthy snacks including fresh fruit.
Community Engagement:
WMT is committed to actively engaging with the local community. We support local charities through a variety of events such as sponsored walks, coffee mornings and an annual pancake race. We support local educational establishments through visits to local school and colleges for careers talks and to act as an Enterprise Adviser.
Diversity and Inclusion:
We are conscious of seeking to foster a workplace that values diversity and inclusion. Our hiring practices and work environment promote equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, or other protected characteristics.
Environmental Sustainability
Energy Efficiency:
WMT seek ways to reduce energy consumption and look to implement energy efficient practices within our business, such as automatic lighting. We work with our landlord to implement energy efficient initiatives such as exploring the possibility of introducing vehicle electric charging points and increasing the range of items which can be recycled.
We have implemented initiatives such as video conferencing, encouraging the use of public transportation and strive to improve our energy efficiency wherever possible.
Waste Reduction:
We actively work towards reducing waste generation and promoting recycling by providing separate bins and are collaborating with our landlord to expand the range of recyclable items.
Paperless Operations:
We strive to minimise paper usage by promoting electronic communication, documentation, and filing systems. This includes the use of digital signatures and electronic invoicing.
Continuous Improvement
Monitoring and Reporting:
WMT regularly reflects on our social and environmental performance, driven by our Great Place to Work committee. We will continue to seek ways to continuously improve our CSR and environmental initiatives.
Employee Involvement:
We encourage our employees to actively participate in and contribute to our CSR and environmental sustainability efforts by promoting charity events, encouraging recycling and engendering an ethos of corporate social responsibility . We believe that everyone in our organisation plays a crucial role in achieving our goals.
This CSR Policy reflects WMT’s commitment to making a positive impact on society and the environment. By implementing these initiatives, we aim to contribute to a sustainable and responsible future.
