Food for thought
As the business continued to grow and their strategy gained traction, Vacherin’s directors felt it was time to find a different kind of support to help them make the next phase of their plans a reality.
A reputation for quality and innovation
Provider of bespoke catering and front of house services in London’s commercial and institutional heartland, Vacherin has built its business by delivering for its clients with creativity and flair.
Founded in 2002, Vacherin is no stranger to the awards podium. Its passion for responsibly sourced food and imaginative dishes served with care, wins accolades for the business year on year.
Time for change
With the business growing sustainably, the leadership team turned their attention to their longer term plans. Looking for professional support to help them move forward, Vacherin’s Finance Director, Clive Hetherington saw an article in EP Hospitality Magazine, written by WMT. The ideas in the article resonated with Clive and he asked us to meet with him.
Room to grow
Vacherin’s directors – Mark, Clive and Phil – were looking for advisors who could support them with everything from their immediate compliance needs to longer-term strategic goals. Industry knowledge was important to the directors. WMT were able to demonstrate how their experience of working with owner-managed businesses in the hospitality sector would be helpful.
In-depth tax advice is also important to the business and its directors. WMT’s specialists in corporate, personal, employment and value-added tax are on hand to provide a complete compliance and advice package.
However, the first priority for the business was a statutory audit as its year end was fast approaching.
A smooth handover
Thanks to an effective pre-audit planning meeting, the WMT team were clear what the directors wanted from the audit.
WMT set up the audit file and gathered much of the information they needed before they went on site through liaising with the previous year’s auditors and Vacherin’s outsourced accounting provider. This preparation combined with experience in the sector helped them to quickly understand the business and use their time effectively.
Much of the audit work was completed on-site and queries were discussed with the Vacherin team as they arose. This meant that there were no surprises for Clive when the audit concluded and the WMT team had all it needed to complete the audit work, produce the report and provide feedback to the Directors.
Our client says…
Once the first audit was completed, co-owner and Finance Director, Clive Hetherington, said:
‘The WMT team really lived up to their promises. We’d been with our previous auditors for several years and although change can be challenging, the professionalism and assuredness of the firm’s partners gave me the confidence that the transition would be smooth – and it was!
The on-site audit team were equally professional, entirely pragmatic and extremely personable – in short they just ‘got it’. They worked well with our outsourced accounts function and kept me up to date with how the audit was going. That way, any potential concerns were addressed whilst the team were still on site.
The successful audit is only half the story though. In the short period of our partnership to date we have received well informed and appropriate advice on a range of issues from corporate restructuring to VAT.
We are entirely happy with our decision to appoint WMT as our auditors and advisers.’
