ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor finds increasing optimism after success of vaccine roll-out
The latest ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor has found that accountants working in industry are increasingly optimistic about the prospects for the coming months, thanks to the success of the vaccine roll-out.
The results, based on telephone interviews with more than 1,000 ICAEW Chartered Accountants, show that confidence has been rising since mid-October 2020, despite the latest lockdown measures.
Business confidence has now reached its highest level in the five years since Q1 2016, shortly before the Brexit referendum, and is in positive territory for the first time in a year.
Locally, business confidence in the East of England bounced from -11.9 in Q4 2020 to +13.3 in Q1 2021, meaning it is now above the UK average.
