Founded as a patient’s association in 1979, Crohn’s and Colitis UK is now the leading charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Their support network of over 29,000 members, ambassadors and health professionals work to make a better life for 300,000 people in UK living with these diseases.
The charity has over 50 local groups working to raise funds throughout the UK through education, publicity and fundraising. It is vital that the charity keeps track of its income and a firm grip on their financial management. Crohn’s and Colitis asked for WMT’s support with their specialist charity audit to meet the complex and ever changing guidelines outlined by the charity commission.
WMT’s audit team worked closely with the management team at Crohn’s and Colitis to ensure their audit not only met the statutory regulations, but also provided independent and useful insight into the charity’s financial management and reporting practices.
By attending WMT’s charity update seminars, the team at Crohn’s and Colitis glean useful information on current topics in the charity sector such as the latest revisions to UK financial reporting practices for charities, tax changes and charity trading.
